Please note wheel builds are NOT available on an EXPRESS service but will be despatched within 18-21 working days, normally sooner.
Add this to your basket & the rims & hubs on your order will be combined to form a very high quality wheel built to our master wheel builders exacting standards. Select this product, then go to the relevant rim & hub sections & choose the relevant items. Be sure to pick hubs & rims with correct hole drillings! Normally only Sapim or DT spokes will be used but occasionally with some odd lengths we may substitute another brand.
ALL our wheels are built with SILVER nipples, made from brass, finished with a nickel plate. Alternative nipples can be purchased through our online store.If you have purchased alternative nipples, we will assume you want these used to build your wheels. If you don’t please let us know [email protected]. Additional spokes can be purchased through our online store, please order at time of build.

I needed a 24" wheel for my Airnimal Chameleon folding bike. SJS had all the parts, rim, hub, spokes in stock. In three days the completed wheel was delivered to my home.

Wheel was a DT rim on Shimano XT dynohub. Turn around time was fast. Wheel is spot on true, good even spoke tensions.
First ride out, no pinging spokes which is a good indicator the builder took the extra time and care to remove the spoke windup/stress.
A few rides in now on a mix of road and rough tracks and the wheel is still spot on.

Proswell built with lots of options and good advice from SJS
I have had 5 wheel builds from SJS, all have been structurally bomb proof. the last set I purchased following 2 sets of wheel failures in 18 months on my tandem. The SJS set show no signs of damage following Pittsburg to Washington DC run.

ProsQuality, cost.
Very happy with this wheel. It seems nice and tight (after some weeks of use). It's particularly good to find someone doing this in UK for a such reasonable price. Plenty of options available too - I'd have another one if I needed a new hub gear build for rear wheel.

ProsWell built, Speed of delivery
SJS Cycles is one of the few places I would get a wheel built in the UK. Using quality spokes and rims, it looks like it will be ideal on a fully loaded rough terrain tour. Perfect alignment of the wheel.

I am about to splash out on new wheels with 36 hole XT hubs, Rigida Andra CSS rims. What are the strongest spokes for these?

The strongest spokes we can offer are the DT Swiss Alpine at 2.3mm thick.
